Choose the Right Path for Care in iowa and california

Personality disorders aren’t about being “too much”—they’re patterns shaped by pain, protection, and past experience.

At Holistic Resources Clinic, we provide thoughtful, nonjudgmental support for individuals navigating conditions like Borderline, Avoidant, or Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder. Whether you’re seeking clarity around your patterns or ready to begin healing relationships and emotions, we’re here to help you understand yourself more deeply—and grow with compassion and support.

Dr. Christina Stai provides trauma-informed evaluations and therapy for children and adults navigating neurodivergence in Iowa and California.

What Are Personality Disorders?

Personality disorders involve long-standing patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that differ from societal expectations and cause distress or difficulty in relationships. These patterns are often rooted in early experiences, trauma, and survival strategies.

They’re not about being “difficult” — they’re about deeply ingrained emotional pain and unprocessed wounds.

Common Personality Disorders We Support

  • Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) – emotional intensity, fear of abandonment, unstable relationships

  • Avoidant Personality Disorder – social withdrawal, low self-worth, fear of rejection

  • Dependent Personality Disorder – difficulty making decisions without reassurance, fear of being alone

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD) – rigid rules, perfectionism, need for control

Personality Disorders & Neurodivergence

Symptoms of personality disorders may be confused with traits of Autism, ADHD, or trauma responses. For example, emotional sensitivity in BPD may overlap with RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria) in ADHD. Dr. Stai conducts careful, affirming evaluations to avoid misdiagnosis and guide the right support.
